The landscape with classical architecture and figures, (oil on canvas 64 x 107 cm.), is a Giuseppe Battaglioli's very beautiful work, in my opinion.
Giuseppe Battaglioli was born in Modena in 1717c. and died in Venice in 1796c.
Regarding quality, this landscape is one of the best which he painted.
Moreover this picture has higher value because another great artist, (I think Francesco Zuccarelli), collaborated with Battaglioli as regards the figures.
In fact the horse, little dog , oxen and statue agree with animals painted by Zuccarelli in relation to his brush-stroke and stylistic manner. The whole landscape view is typical of Battaglioli, in regard to composition, brightness and colour.
This picture goes well with the painter's other works, such as the well-known paintings belonging formerly to Giovannelli or those belonging formerly to Brass and now in private collections in Milan. It reminds too other pictures with similar characteristics, such as those which I published (E. Martini,"Pittura veneziana del Settecento", 1964, figg.189,191; 1984, figg.743,746, 747).
This picture is in a very good state of repair. I'm going to publish it in my next critical essay, because it's a high pictorial quality work.
